Pin-soldering problems? Look no further!

  • Has anyone tried this pin strip?

Instead of soldering them into the Espruino board, you just push them in! I've now got a few on order... If I'd have known I'd have supplied them with the KickStarter!

I'll have to wait until I get them and try them (it may be that Espruino's holes are too big/small) before I totally recommend them, but it looks very promising.

  • These would stop a lot of worry when soldering pins to the board.

Let us know how you get on with them.

  • I just got these through the post... They go in, and they're pretty solid. The ones above (that I ordered) actually have surprisingly long pins - but I guess that's not a big problem. They can always be cut down.

Fitting them isn't totally easy though. You need quite a lot of force. You can't just press down on the board because when they push through they'll poke a hole in your finger!

I found that if you stick them in a vice (making sure there's enough room for the pins to push into the other side) you can fit them pretty easily - but I wonder how many people have a vice but not a soldering iron!
