What is A2DA, what to do with it?

Posted on
  • Hi,

There is A2DA written on the display.
It's taking some place so I would like to remove it but cannot determine from what application it comes from. So does somebody know where it comes from?

    Cheers,
    Bjorn

  • That will be the "Bluetooth ID Widget"

  • Thanks @Ganblejs!
I suppose it's better to keep this application. Is there a way to change the value "a2da" into something else? I tried via the IDE but there is no application "Bluetooth ID Widget" installed. Via the watch > settings > apps, there is neither an app to configure the widget.
So is it possible to change the ID?
    Thanks!

  • It's renamed to "widid.wid.js" on the watch, as per https://github.com/espruino/BangleApps/blob/master/apps%2Fwidid%2Fmetadata.json .

Personally I have just uninstalled it.

  • Yes, just uninstall it. It doesn't do anything useful.

It's designed to display the last digits of the Bluetooth ID (like appears when you connect/pair) so if you have more than one device (eg in a classroom) you know what you're connecting to.

It's on by default because it's quite common for unis/companies to buy more than one device and get running with them out the box, in which case they kind of need it. It's only a few seconds for you to remove it though

  • Thanks @Ganblejs for your answer. I think I am going to do the same.

    Cheers, Bjorn

  • Thank you @Gordon! I'll do the same..
I thought it was the ID of the Bluetooth connection. Now I also understand why we cannot change it into something else.

    Cheers, Bjorn

  • I've removed the app and now it's not visible anymore.. Great! Thanks again @Ganblejs and @Gordon!
