Hi - that's a pain. Just tested here and I get the noise when Gadgetbridge is in the foreground it seems, but not at other times.
If I do as suggested in the issue you found: https://codeberg.org/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge/issues/3309
Settings -> Apps -> Manage Apps -> Bangle.js Gadgetbridge -> Other Permissions
and enable everything that wasn't enabled, it appears to work ok for me. Does that work for you?is there a drift between normal gadgetbridge and the bangle js version in terms of features being requested in android?
No, there shouldn't be, but the Play Store version does lag behind the official Gadgetbridge releases by a month or more.

Interestingly the page linked from that same issue: https://gadgetbridge.org/basics/features/find-phone/
Mentions you might need the permission on some custom roms - so perhaps it's just that you're using GrapheneOS?

Interesting that you had the same issue. I don't have exactly the same permissions layout on graphene os - can you tell me exactly what permission you turned on under "other permissions"? I can raise with the graphene team and see if they hide those or if there's a way to access them on their forums. Thanks!

There might be something wrong with access rights using the combination of GrapheneOS and the F-Droid version of Gadgetbridge. I never got notification access to work and since I am waiting on a Shiftphone to replace my waterdamaged Pixel 4a I just gave up and used Aurora to install the version from the play store. That works fine as far as I can see including "Find phone" with audio. Companion pairing works fine. The Pixel 4a is not supported on Android 14 with GrapheneOS so there might be differences to my Android 13 based version.

I think you probably hit this: https://gadgetbridge.org/basics/features/notifications/?h=notif#notification-access-on-android-13
If so, there's a solution in that link as well.

As far as I can see from testing here it needs both
Show on Lock Screen
andOpen New windows while...
enabled to work. But maybe that's a MIUI-specific thing -

thanks, I'll see where I can dig out both of those in graphene OS. I think it's the "open new windows" thing I don't have an option for.

I installed the normal Gadgetbridge version from F-Droid alongside Bangle.js Gadgetbridge as a test because I did not want to backup and restore. The F-Droid version seemed to work completely fine including find phone and notifications. So I suspect the Bangle.js variant from F-Droid would now work fine as well on Android 13 based GrapheneOS.

Ooo the f droid version if bangle js gadgetbridge works! I have to grant the additional permissions for notifications that are blocked but default. I guess the F droid build uses a lower android SDK target than the Google Play one which can work around the windows permission thing?
Hey there, I'm using the bangle js gadgetbridge app from google play on my pixel 8a running graphene os and when I trigger the "find my phone" function the notification pops up but no sound plays unless I unlock the phone, click the notification and open the app. I have granted gadgetbridge all permissions included "draw over other apps" but I think it may be missing a few from its requested set.
For one, the companion pairing options appear to be missing in this version of the app and are required in the docs: https://gadgetbridge.org/basics/pairing/companion-device/
For another, it looks like we need the the "open windows in the background" permission but the app isn't requesting this? https://codeberg.org/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge/issues/3309
Has anybody else had a similar issue and did you resolve it? If not, is there a drift between normal gadgetbridge and the bangle js version in terms of features being requested in android?
Thanks!
