Works now, with a CIPSTART failed now and then.
But to return at least something to the forum I can report that the ESP8266-01 shipping from Watterott last week have the 0018000902-AI03 firmware and report a[Vendor:http://www.ai-thinker.com Version:0.9.2.4] on start-up.
