@pango: sorry you're having trouble. How old is your Mac? And are you connecting to
cu...ortty.....I know previously someone had trouble because their Mac was trying to connect to Espruino as if it was a modem. I'm not sure how you stop this (it's only happened once) but it might be worth poking around in your settings and seeing if you can somehow disable that.
The red light is strange - it should just flash very briefly after reset, but shouldn't usually stay on...
