It looks like you can just solder it on. There's also another post on entering low-power mode with the HC-05 (http://forum.espruino.com/comments/5587/). I'm not sure anyone has tried it yet, but even that can get down to 3mA. There might even be a way to programatically turn it off, and then only turn it on when you need to transmit data.
