In the end I just ended up going with another silicone strap (it's solid, not two-tone) but it does feel a little stronger better than the original.
I know it's not ideal but I feel like everyone has their own personal preference, so the best thing I can do is ship something solid and not disagreeable and keep the price the same, and then anyone who does want to can jump on Amazon and get whatever they want for $10 or so.
