Looking at the permissions granted to Gadgetbridge on my phone I don't think it requests, and therefore don't have, camera access.
So the first step would be to add that permission to the ones Gadgetbridge requests. It's possible many of the maintainers is cautious of adding it in, but a start could be to open an issue, or do a PR over at the codeberg repository and see what feedback you get. One possibility is it could maybe be introduced to the Bangle.js flavor of the app and not the main one.
