Basically, trying to make connection improvements to the BTHRM app without breaking backwards compatibility.

What does this mean? (don't know what "our BTHRM discussions" was about)
What problems did you have before?
Actually in a python app here I did include the id hardcoded to make sure to not get the H10 of my wife. So very sure id stays the same also over long time.
