I wouldn't worry too much... Espruino's got a voltage regulator on board, so as long as the voltage doesn't go above 16v you'll be fine!
Basically if you've used it on your phone and your phone still works, then it should be fine for Espruino :)
There have been problems with some chargers turning off because Espruino doesn't draw enough power to convince them anything is connected - but that won't really do anything any damage.
