Glad you got it sorted! It might also be worth checking the battery voltage?
While Puck.js should last for around a year on the battery, if you're playing around and upload code that keeps it very busy (and then you leave it) then it's quite easy to burn through your battery in a day or so... When the battery gets low you can get all kinds of issues like this.
Removing the battery for a while may have just let it recover enough to start working momentarily as well.
Persistence. Sorry, don't have anything more specific. Of course, that means it may happen again.
One possibility is that leaving the battery out for hours may have helped.
