@HughB there are not such swipe up and down.
As the bangle.js 1 have only 2 touch areas (left and right) it is not possible to detect these gestures. -
@MaBe i agree, i like to have always both option keys and touch.
for example next action can complete your list
left area touch as Up or Back
right area touch as Down or Select
l+r (middle) areas as Select -
I am not sure what i prefer....
But at least I think the "<Back" option should be used coherently and now there are exceptions at BLE and Theme.(see below)Another improvement is showing in a different way section entries (containing a 2nd menu) and single click functions as Turn off. I mean using a different color, a prefix char, an icon, bold font...
For example I always thought that "Reset settings" was a function and just now i saw that it is a section :)"<Back" at
App/widget settings is th 1st option
BLE is the last option
Quiet mode is th 1st option
Locale is the 1st option
Select Clock is the 1st option
Set Time is the 1st option
LCD is the 1st option
Reset settings is the 1st option
Theme is the last option"<Back" at GPS recorder
is always at the bottom -

Recently I did a default install from the App loader, later i installed "toucher".
As expected Launcher was the default launcher, then I uninstalled launcher from AppLoader and reset but after that "Launcher" was still the launcher. Finally I manually delete 2 "laucher" files from the FS, then "toucher" became the launcher.

@serj I think this health summary is good idea and pretty useful
In my opinion "Grocery" app can be used as base to introduce fields from the pc to the bangle.js in user friendly way. -
I am not an expert in licenses but I am not sure that bangle.js can't use the evaluation licenee
"A license key and a commercial use agreement are required for use of the S212 and/or S332 in revenue-generating applications."
"Selling products with an evaluation stack will obligate you to royalties"
IMO after Bangle.js has been sold/bought there is not more revenue generated, so a later flashing should be allowed and also the application software that would use ANT+ are all non commercial.
On the other hand, the previous discussion is not much important if SD size is a problem or there is not a demand from users.

As the HR sensor is not reliable for sports, it can be interesting bangle.js can read from a remote BLE or ANT+ HR sensor.
Due BLE limitations a connection to HR sensor will not allow gadget bridge simultaneously.
However, ANT+ allows multiple connection, and it seems that ANT+ is supported by nRF52 series and its softdevices.
As Garmin sensors have been using ANT+ for many years, it is no difficult to find them.Is it feasible to include ANT support? easier from BLE?
Evaluation Use:
• Not to be used for any commercial or revenue-generating purpose.
• Click above for Evaluation use on any of the stack downloads for the SoftDevices that you need. The SoftDevices are available as ANT-only (200 series) and concurrent ANT and Bluetooth (300 series), providing flexibility to serve specific product needs

This question is more curiosity than a need, as I am able to use AppLoader from Android, Linux and Windows10.
But I also have lab computer with windows7 and a BT USB dongle and the native web IDE works fine.
from this PC/OS, apps can't be installed from App Loader because the Chrome requires BLE support from the OS.Would it be technically possible to do something similar to the native web IDE for the AppLoader?
As I said before it is more a curiosity, because i understand that probably there is not enough potential users to spend time on supporting an out of support platform.

I got some screw cap bar from a Garmin fenix 5 or fr935, the length is perfect but the diameter 2,2mm is too much even drilling inside the bangle.js holes.
So the perfect screw cap bar would be one of 1,5mm diameter, like the Suunto core adapter but shorter (22mmlength)
Any idea about where to buy this type of screw bars?
@tebarius in your photo it seems that you are using 2 short screw bars in each side of the watch. Is it possible or just the picture is hiding part of the bar?

I see that you can install a new/different launcher but until you uninstall the previous one, the new one will not work.
I think the expected behaviour is that new launcher replace the previous, right?
The more curious is that i remember that as soon as i uninstalled the previous, the new began workingAlso it can be nice to have an option in setting to select a launcher from all those installed

Regarding using Garmin strap, I forgot to say that it is necessary to carve a bit the cutter the silicon that touch the case
Regarding the pin/bar/spring, I found different alternatives,
- the pin/bars that join each piece of the metalic strap(24mm) fit well
-a thick steel paper clip, that requires to be cut.
-cut the original bangle.js bar
Also I want to try screw cap bar of 25mm (they are used in some garmin models, like as fr935) but it would require to make bangle.js holes wider
- the pin/bars that join each piece of the metalic strap(24mm) fit well
-
A very easy solution and very recommended for sports is to adjust a standard silicon strap with a cutter
The best for comfort, durability and aesthetic is a Garmin strap 15mm (inner) and 22 (main), so just 2mm have to be removed. Also I adjusted a spare P8 smartwatch strap (20mm silicon) and the result is more comfortable than the original but it requires more cutting and the result is less impressive than the Garmin.

I am also very interested in this topic
Regarding the interoperability among bangle.js apps and other apps like Strava, Bangle apps(GPS recorder or Bangle.run) write data in files in a csv format.
Whereas Strava app/web uses and import from XML formats ( .tcx and .gpx ) and a binary format ( .fit)It would be great to add the xml as an output format in bangle.js apps but I am not sure about impact on performance.
There are several ways to generate an XML from with CSV data, but it requires mapping a some manual work.
Bangle run format:
timestamp,latitude,longitude,altitude,duration,distance,heartrate,steps
GPS recorder format:
timestamp,latitude,longitude,altitude -
I enabled the HRM through using the "vertical Face" clock that can show BPM in screen, by default heart rate is not measured but the measure is enabled clicking "button1"
It seems that when you disconnect from GB if it can create a new activity that finish at time of disconnection.
Otherwise enabling/disabling HR , seems that "paused" activity gets reactivated and increases its steps, kms and end time. These functions are very promising, and i hope that bangle.js can monitor sleep soon :)

I am seeing that recently gadgetbridge has included new features inside the "Activity and Sleep" section.
First of all, I haven't found info about how to use it but at least i have realized that activating the BPM (button1) then Gadgetbridge modifies an activity on the "Activity List" modifying steps, kms, hr its end time
Today I have 3 activities, 2 Walking and 1 Running, but I haven't run at all.
for example i checked the screen witha difference of 4min it changed from
23018 Active steps, distance 17,8km active time 4h33m
to
32991 Active steps, distance 25,5km active time 4h37mI don't know how the distance is calculated but it is really wrong.
Can you provide info about how to start/stop activities?
best practices, tips and status of work? -
-
What about the heart rate sensor?
Though I assume that it would be several times better than Bangle.js
Can it obtain relatively accurate data to be used during sports?
And if the wrist sensor hw is not good enough, would it be feasible to receive info from a BLE chest band?
