Lock vs. ScreenOff vs. BacklightOff

  • So, I am using the watch quite a while and it's still awesome; but I still don't get how the lock / LCD off mechanism works.
In the LCD settings I got the "LCD Timeout" and the "wake on ..." settings. And I got this little lock on the top left corner.
Is this all connected (i.e. the same)? Or are there acutally separate settings for locking, switching off the screen and switching off the backlight?
Why am I asking?: I'd love to have the watch unlocked all the time but the LCD backlight should switch off after a certain time.

  • Is this all connected (i.e. the same)?

In the menu, yes. It is possible to manually configure it with https://www.espruino.com/Reference#l_Bangle_setOptions and lockTimeout/lcdPowerTimeout/backlightTimeout though

However it may not be such a good idea. The reason we 'lock' is twofold - to stop accidental presses but also because when the touchscreen is powered on it draws around 1.5mA (IIRC). It means that all by itself, the touchscreen would flatten the battery in around 5 days.

  • Ah, ok, thanks for clarification. The 1.5mA is a good point.
