Chrome and Bluetooth in a vm on windows

Posted on
  • As the Windows version of chrome does not support web Bluetooth - has anyone tried in a virtual box vm running on windows with a USB Bluetooth set up to pass through to the vm?

  • I think there was another post on this, but basically: Linux Web Bluetooth support doesn't 'just work' yet, and even after installing new Bluetooth tools it still seems a bit iffy (see the 2 other forum posts on it this morning :) ).

Google's made a bunch of changes on top of the standard Bluetooth libs for their Chromebooks - so potentially using their library might be more reliable though.

At the moment, my suggestion would be to use the native ide until Windows Web Bluetooth support gets added, and in the mean time to try proper web bluetooth stuff with a cheap Android phone/tablet.

  • Thanks - started to download The Windows app - seems to be taking an age to download so will try again tomorrow.
