Bangle.js 2 Strap

Posted on
  • Hi! I'm just getting a new batch of Bangle.js 2 made, and I've been told that somehow the manufacturer's watch strap supplier has damaged/lost their strap mold and is unable to make more straps of the same type.

    It's a bit frustrating, but I guess it does give us an opportunity. I know many of you have replaced your existing straps with a different style... Does anyone have any suggestions?

    We can't afford to go completely crazy (and those who want something very specific can change really easily anyway), but I guess we may still be able to do better than what we have currently

  • Well, FWIW here's the type of replacement band I got that I'm very pleased with:

    I guess some people wouldn't be pleased if you didn't include a band but I would be fine with that.

  • Interesting, thanks! That's one of the ones they are suggesting as a replacement actually.

    I know one or two people (one very recently) had the band fail on their strap and I guess this removes that as a possibility.

    However it might be a bit too different for some people I guess!

    I bought a couple of similar silicone straps off of Amazon and one of them has failed at the pin. The silicone has just torn.

  • Hey @Gordon,
    I think if you get an inexpensive strap, the price savings might help? If the strap is just good enough, someone who cares would replace it. That or have strapless be an option and have one or two options?

  • Thanks - yes, ideally I just want something pretty basic (but strong and reliable) - and then for anyone who cares it's easy to replace.

    That was this type? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293495192890

    I must admit I was a little concerned that the area to the side of the cut-out might be a bit weak - but that's not what broke in this case?

    Similar... I can't find the link right now, but it was a couple of generic silicone straps from Amazon. I'm uploading a photo of the break.

  • I bought these two years ago and have been using them with my Bip and now my Bangle. I like them. 👍

    For me, I don't like how silicone feels against the skin. Especially when it's hot and sweaty. I much prefer the nylon fabric.

    As a side note: when I just got the Bangle and still used the silicone strap it came with, whenever I had it near my mouth for whatever reason I would get a foul taste and somewhat weird sensation.

  • Personally I'm a big fan of milanese loops as they require no adjustment, and any 20mm watchband with pins should fit.

  • I like my own strap: comfortable, practical, cheap (a few dollars). The watch can be quickly removed and put on the hand, as well as quickly adjust the length of the strap. Also, the strap can be used as a screen protector if you need to hide the watch in your bag.

    I do not think that everyone needs such a strap by default, but perhaps as a second one?

  • Would you mind sharing a link to an online listing?

  • Sure! Added a link to the store after the picture. Very similar to my strap in appearance and price.

  • I recently bought a cheap nylon strap https://www.amazon.it/dp/B09Q62CLXV

    It's more comfortable than the silicone one.

  • I just bought this one here (https://amzn.eu/d/8yOLW6a) for my blue bangle and I really like it. IMO also the color looks very similar:

  • I got a GadgetWraps band for my Bangle and it comes with a lifetime warranty which is nice. It feels great and they offer a lot of colors. The nylon doesn’t get hot underneath too which is why I replaced the original.

    +1 for nylon, especially when sleeping (sleep apps). But these types without fastener do stress the chassis of the watch when putting the watch on or off. I worry that the strap holder might crack.

  • @Gordon what was the outcome of this? Three of the holes on my Bangle2 strap have now merged and I can't get a good fit anymore (when it was just 2 it was actually quite comfortable). Interested to know what you decided the best options were.

  • In the end I just ended up going with another silicone strap (it's solid, not two-tone) but it does feel a little stronger better than the original.

    I know it's not ideal but I feel like everyone has their own personal preference, so the best thing I can do is ship something solid and not disagreeable and keep the price the same, and then anyone who does want to can jump on Amazon and get whatever they want for $10 or so.

  • My pal craft a DIY strap. Check it out!

    Link to archive with 3d model of the pin holder;

    Bottom layers - 99999;
    Top/Bottom pattern - Concentric;
    Print speed - 20 mm/s;
    Support-Normal;
    Overhang angle - 75 deg.;

  • Wow, nice - those 3D printed clips look great! I'm not sure my 3D printer is capable of that!

  • By the way, the 3D printer is budget, and the nozzle is large:

    3d printer: Ender 3 V2
    Nozzle diameter: 0.4 mm

  • Wow, nice. Mine is an Ender 3 too (not v2) so maybe there's a chance I could pull it off :)
