Thanks... to bad the bubble displays are hard to come by and if, then exorbitant expensive, that's why I ended up with the clear-transparent module from National Semiconductor - new Old-Stock see conversation about Retro Bubble Displays driven with 74HC595 - I'm sure you were there already. At the time I played with it, I still could get 4-banks and single bubbles... but expensive as well. Nowadays I don't even find them on ebay anymore, not even from the places of the former UDSSR. Putting a red 'filter' over the transparent ones gives them almost the same look and (visual) feel.
