No data sheet, but if it helps, here is an auction selling the same string I have: http://www.ebay.com/itm/272035558302

I plan on running many strings of WS2811 chipped LEDs. A power supply will power the espruino, and the strings. The data-out of one string will feed into the data-in of another string. The strings of WS2811 commonly available have two ground wires coming out of each end. One of the grounds is mated with the data wire (see pic). I plan on using one of the grounds for each power injection, do I need to use the other ground for the data linking?
FYI: I'm cutting off the black connector that came on the strings and replacing with a waterproof connector. If I don't a ground with the data, then I'll just use a single pin connector for data.
Here is my plan. Does it look OK, or is it flawed?

Hello! I'm testing out a string of WS8211 LEDs. When powered by the USB data cable, I get an expected red on the first two LEDs ([255,0,0,255,0,0]), however when I switch to an external 5V power supply, the first two LEDs light up as a bright whitish blue. Here is a video
showing this effect. Here is another video
showing how it seems to be "off" by just a little while on the 5V psu.Any ideas?
Note: This effect is lessened over the length of the string; unnoticeable by the time you reach the middle.

I did not have up-to-date firmware; thanks for mentioning that. After upgrading it, I found the memory usage to be much better with arrays! Looks like it was some optimizations you did last year.
