My bangle.js 2 is giving very low readings, around -73m when I'm at ground level in South London. The number changes to a smaller negative number as I go upstairs, suggesting that something is working, but does it need calibrating in some way?
Yes, right now there's no calibration built in (I guess you made the app from the Getting Started card?) but the altimeter uses the air pressure, and air pressure changes depending on the weather - so it does need some calibration of the starting height.
It should be reasonably easy to add a calibration value to that app though.
Hi Gordon - yes that's right I made the app on the card and fiddled with it! Good to know, thanks for the swift response, very much appreciated.
Could it be calibrated from a gps fix?
Yes, it could. However because of the orientation of GPS satellites the precision of altitude is a lot lower, so GPS isn't super exact either.
