Increasing 'Storage' filename length

Posted on
  • Hi!

With Bangle.js we've really started to use the Storage library, and I can't help thinking that the 8 character filename limit is making things needlessly fiddly.

Currently each Storage file has a 16 byte header, of which 8 bytes are filename.

What does everyone think about increasing the header size to 32 bytes, and moving to 24 byte filenames?

We could then ditch the annoying '-/=/+/etc' in front of filenames on Bangle.js and switch to using normal file extensions.

  • That would really nice 👍🏻

  • ...net real-name length is then about 20..21 bytes... that helps for sure helps with standard file naming.
