• Hi,

Is a ready-soldered/ready-to-use Espruino Pico + microSD breakout combo for sale?

Do you feel that that would be relevant at all?

    Thanks,
    Tink

  • I don't think he has pre-soldered breakouts, period.

I question the relevance. I have barely used the SD card slot on my original Espruino's - I always find myself wanting byte oriented file storage, and the trouble and overhead of the file system on SD cards is a real bummer. And there are oodles of micro SD breakout boards.

  • DrAzzy, thanks for responding -

What is the easiest-to-plug-in microSD breakout for the Espruino Pico of which you're aware that it's for sale anywhere?

  • The hacky (but cheap!) way to do this is to use one of those Micro SD -> SD adaptors and solder to it - see the end of this page: http://www.espruino.com/File+IO

You could solder pins to it and poke it straight into breadboard, so you don't have to use wires.

Otherwise I do sell snap-out adaptor boards with adaptors for different things: http://www.espruino.com/Shims#shim-collection

A micro SD card is one of those boards, but I'm out of stock at the moment and actually the SD card connector that's used can be a bit difficult to get hold of.

Otherwise something like this would work great: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131825428805

You can get Micro SD adaptors pretty easily, but ideally you want one that doesn't have any chips on the board. The ones with chips generally convert voltage levels to 5v for older arduinos, but Espruino uses 3.3v so you don't need any of that.
