Is it normal for the screen to be cut off at the top like this?

Yes, you can see space between the bottom corners of the screen and the bezel but not the top.

Ahh, yes, that's expected - not ideal but it's because the screen has to have a little bit of space at the bottom for the controller and ribbon cable, and there's no room to move it down to center it in the case
