searching for optical sensor color 32x32

  • For a small project I'm searching a sensor to read a color pixel matrix.
Pixel map somewhere between 16x16 and 64x64 would be fine, color 2 bit each color is sufficient.
Speed is not a big problem, reading the matrix once a second would be the target.
Last not least, an interface for Espruino (I2C, SPI, serial) would be fine.
Just seen ASDN 5050 mentioned by Gordon, is there something like the ASDN 5050 with color info ?

  • I'd love to know if there was such a thing - potentially Pixy might work, but it's overkill :)

Failing that, depending on what you are taking a picture of, you could use the ADNS5050 and shine red, green and blue light on it. Getting good focus on the ADNS5050 is still a complete pain though, as it doesn't come with a lens.

  • Try using a clear marble for a lens.
In the past there were flashlight bulbs with a lens near the front that the hackers of the day would use as a lens.
